SPPU (Pune University) SGPA & CGPA to percentage
Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) uses a 10-point grading system, and its conversion is fixed by circular — not a plain ×10, which is the most common student mistake. The calculator above computes your SGPA from subject credits and grade points and converts a CGPA/SGPA to percentage with the correct SPPU formula.
The SPPU formula
Set in SPPU Circular No. 332/2020 (FE 2019 pattern), this applies to both SGPA and CGPA. Example: a CGPA of 8.5 gives (8.5 − 0.75) × 10 = 77.5%.
The placement-bar trick
Because of the −0.75, two CGPA values map to the exact cut-offs companies use:
| SPPU CGPA | Percentage | Means |
|---|---|---|
| 7.75 | 70% | Common eligibility bar for IT placements |
| 6.75 | 60% | First-class / many job cut-offs |
| 8.75 | 80% | Distinction-level |
So if a company asks for "70% and above", you need a CGPA of at least 7.75 at SPPU — a number worth remembering before placement season.
How SGPA is calculated

| C | 5 |
| D (Pass) | 4 |
| F (Fail) | 0 |
