JNTUH CGPA to percentage — the official formula

Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad (JNTUH) uses a 10-point grading system, and its CGPA-to-percentage conversion is fixed in the academic regulations. The calculator above computes your SGPA from subject credits and grade points and converts a CGPA to percentage with the official JNTUH formula.

The JNTUH formula

Percentage = (CGPA − 0.5) × 10

This is specified in JNTUH B.Tech Academic Regulations (Clause 11.2) and applies uniformly across the R16, R18 and R22 regulations — the regulation year changes your credits and subjects, not the conversion. Example: a CGPA of 8.5 gives (8.5 − 0.5) × 10 = 80%. The reverse is CGPA = (Percentage ÷ 10) + 0.5.

How SGPA and CGPA are calculated

SGPA = sum(credit × grade point) / sum(credits) CGPA = credit-weighted average of all semester SGPAs

You must score grade point 5 (C) or above to pass a subject; an F (0) drags your SGPA until cleared.
