KTU CGPA to percentage — the updated 2023 rule
APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (KTU), Kerala, uses a 10-point grading system. The important update most students miss: KTU changed its conversion formula. The calculator above computes your SGPA from subject credits and grade points and converts CGPA to percentage using the current KTU rule.
The current KTU formula
By an Academic Council decision in June 2023, KTU standardised the conversion to a plain ×10 (it earlier used (CGPA − 0.75) × 10). This was done so KTU transcripts line up with international admissions and pan-India placements. Example: a CGPA of 8.5 is now 85%. Do not use the old −0.75 formula or a 9.5 multiplier — both understate your percentage for job and visa applications.
KTU grade points (note the half-points)
| Grade | Grade point |
|---|---|
| S (Outstanding) | 10 |
| A+ | 9 |
| A | 8.5 |
| B+ | 8 |
| B | 7.5 |
| C | 7 |
| P (Pass) | 6 |
| F (Fail) | 0 |
KTU is unusual in using half-point grades (A=8.5, B=7.5) — enter the exact grade point from your grade card.
