AKTU CGPA to percentage — the official formula
Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU / formerly UPTU) uses a 10-point grading system, and its CGPA-to-percentage conversion is fixed by official ordinance. The calculator above computes your SGPA from subject credits and grade points, and converts a CGPA to percentage using AKTU's official formula.
The official AKTU formula
This is notified in the AKTU B.Tech ordinance (Letter No. AKTU/RO/2019/1421, from session 2019-20) and continues to apply in 2025-26. Example: a CGPA of 8.0 gives (8.0 − 0.75) × 10 = 72.5%. Do not use a plain ×10 — that overstates your percentage by 7.5 marks.
SGPA, YGPA and CGPA at AKTU
AKTU has an extra step many students miss — the YGPA (Year Grade Point Average):
So at AKTU you roll two semesters into a YGPA each year, and your YGPAs combine into the final CGPA — which then converts to a percentage with the formula above.
AKTU grade points
| Grade | Grade point |
|---|---|
| O (Outstanding) | 10 |
| A+ | 9 |
| A | 8 |
| B+ | 7 |
| B | 6 |
| C | 5 |
| P (Pass) | 4 |
| F (Fail) | 0 |
