How CBSE best of five percentage is calculated

CBSE students in Class 10 and 12 usually study six subjects, and the overall percentage shown for admissions is often calculated on the best five — one language plus the four highest-scoring of the remaining subjects (or, in practice, simply your top five marks). The tool above takes all your subject marks, drops the lowest, and gives your best-five percentage instantly.

The method

Best of five % = (sum of your top 5 subject marks) / 5

Example: marks of 92, 88, 85, 78, 70 and 60 — the lowest (60) is dropped, the top five total 413, so the percentage is 413 / 5 = 82.6%.

Which subject gets dropped?

The calculator simply removes your lowest mark, which gives the highest possible best-five percentage. Note that some colleges insist the five must include specific subjects (for example one language and the main academic subjects), and a few count the 6th/additional subject rules differently. Always check the admission's exact rule — but for a quick personal estimate, dropping the lowest is how most students compute it.

Why best of five matters for admissions

Cut-offs for popular colleges and courses are quoted as a best-of-five percentage, so even one weak subject does not have to sink your aggregate. Knowing your best-five figure helps you check eligibility and compare against published cut-offs before you apply.
