How the age calculator works

This tool finds your exact age — in years, months and days — between your date of birth and any date you choose (today by default). It also shows your age as a total number of months and days, which is handy for forms, eligibility checks and record-keeping.

How age is counted

The calculator counts complete years first, then the leftover complete months, then the remaining days, adjusting correctly for months of different lengths and for leap years. This is the same "completed years" method used by schools, exams and government forms — you are a given age until the day before your next birthday.

Why exact age matters

• Exams & jobs: eligibility is usually checked as on a fixed cut-off date, not today.
• School admission: minimum age is measured as on 31 March or 1 June depending on the board/state.

A worked example

Born 15 June 1995, age as on 23 June 2026 = 31 years, 0 months, 8 days. The tool also shows this as 372 months and the exact number of days lived.

Tip for forms

When a form asks for age "as on" a particular date, set that date in the second field rather than using today — many people are wrongly marked ineligible because they used the current date instead of the official cut-off.
